Our goal is to share details about public pickleball courts in and around the Phoenix area, where any pickleball player can play with no fees or memberships required to play.
The Mesa Tennis and Pickleball Center at Gene Autry Park is the largest city-run pickleball facility in Mesa, Arizona. For years, this “crown jewel” was known simply as the Mesa Tennis Center, but it has recently evolved in to a premier destination for tennis & pickleball players across the East Valley.
To reflect this growth, the facility recently expanded to 21 dedicated, lighted pickleball courts. While many Phoenix-area parks are first-come, first-served, Gene Autry operates on a paid reservation system ($7–$9 per hour). This makes it the go-to choice for players who want a guaranteed court time without the wait times found at public “drop-in” parks.
We have visited the center first-hand to provide you with the most current 2026 details. Below, we break down the court quality, the pro shop amenities, and exactly how the reservation system works so you can arrive prepared for your next match.
If you are looking for pickleball classes or tournaments in the area, keep an eye on the schedule for these Mesa, AZ pickleball courts as they hold many pickleball classes and tournaments for local players. The classes are very affordable since they are run by the City of Mesa and new class sessions start each month.
How Many Pickleball Courts Does the Mesa Tennis and Pickleball Center Have?

There are 21 pickleball courts at this facility in the City of Mesa. There are 9 dedicated pickleball courts at this facility, and the 12 remaining courts are shared courts on some of the tennis courts.
The staff set up pickleball nets on 6 of the tennis courts with two pickleball courts being set up on each tennis court. There is an active pickleball community in the area so the courts do get busy in the mornings and evenings which are the peak times much like any other pickleball courts in the Phoenix and surrounding areas.
While these are public pickleball courts run by the City of Mesa, there are fees to reserve a court, but the fees are quite affordable at $6 per court per hour at the time of this writing, which is why we chose to include these courts in our Phoenix Pickleball Courts directory.
Drop in pickleball play is also available at $4 pp and times vary depending on winter or summer hours at the facility. Make sure to check with the facility when you are ready to visit to ask about current fees and pickleball court availability if you plan to reserve a court.
