Our goal is to share details about public pickleball courts in and around the Phoenix area, where any pickleball player can play with no fees or memberships required to play.
The City of Phoenix updated two tennis courts at Desert Foothills Park to accommodate pickleball at the year long request of local pickleball players trying to get more pickleball courts in west Ahwatukee.
These pickleball courts are not ideal if you are a serious pickleball player because the marked pickleball lines are close in color to the tennis courts, and the tennis court net is not adjustable to a pickleball height.
That being said, in west Ahwatukee where these courts are located, they are the only public outdoor courts available in the immediate area.
The closest public pickleball courts to Desert Foothills Park are the Pecos Park courts which tend to get busy at peak play times. If you live in the surrounding neighborhoods, these courts are quite convenient even with their pickleball limitations.
Rumor is local residents are still working with the City Council to advocate for dedicated pickleball courts at Desert Foothills Park. Hopefully those efforts will lead to success and one day this park will have a dedicated set of pickleball courts for local residents to play.

How Many Pickleball Courts Are at Desert Foothills Park?

The Desert Foothills Park pickleball courts feature two shared use courts that have pickleball lines marked on the two tennis courts at the park. With these two pickleball courts the City of Phoenix has now added to the shared use tennis and pickleball courts found around the city.
As I said earlier, these courts wouldn’t be my first choice if I was looking for pickleball courts to play, but they serve a purpose to help meet demand for court time in an area that has many active pickleball players looking for more open courts to play.
