The Australian Open 2026 introduces a new tradition with it’s first-ever opening ceremony on Saturday, January 17th held on the Rod Laver Arena court.

The Melbourne Park tennis facility features 39 total courts, including 33 Championship hard courts and 6 clay courts.

* 114,000 servings of wraps, sandwiches, and bagels
* 115,000 servings of coffees and coffee flavored AO Frappes
In addition, 112,000 Peach Melbourne desserts were enjoyed at the tournament.
Fun fact: the players consumed more than 5,000 bananas from the Queensland area in January during Australian Summer tennis season.
Australian Open Racket Stringing:
Racket stringing at the Australian Open is handled by the YONEX stringing team, which consists of 20-22 expert stringers working in the stringing room under Rod Laver arena. During the 2025 tournament, more than 7,000 rackets were strung – using over 83 kilometers of string.
