Our goal is to share details about public pickleball courts in and around the Phoenix area, where any pickleball player can play with no fees or memberships required to play.
Pecos Park Pickleball is considered to be one of the most active sports & recreation facilities in Ahwatukee. Boasting 16 dedicated, lighted courts and a high-energy “paddle-up” community, it is the premier destination for players in South Phoenix looking for a competitive game at almost any hour of the day.
The facility is completely free to the public and features professional-grade lighting that keeps the action going until 10:30 PM. Because of its size and the quality of the surfaces, Pecos Park draws some of the best talent in the Valley, though you’ll find players of all skill levels rotating in during peak morning and evening “open play” hours.
We have visited the Pecos Park courts first-hand to give you the specific details you need before you head out. In the guide below, we break down the parking situation, restroom locations, and the local court etiquette so you can arrive ready to play.
The Pecos Park Pickleball Court facility is one of the largest pickleball facilities in the east valley of Phoenix. Pecos Park is located in the Phoenix – Ahwatukee area and is one of the largest parks in the Phoenix Parks & Recreation network.

How Many Pickleball Courts Does Pecos Park Have?

The Pecos Park Pickleball Courts facility has 16 dedicated pickleball courts that get busy at peak times but don’t have long waits compared to other facilities in the area due to the number of courts available for play.
The courts here are in pretty good condition and the regulars here have been welcoming when I have played here. I have never had to wait for a court when I have played at the Pecos Park Pickleball courts but these are not my regular courts so I don’t play here very often.
The community center at the park is known as Pecos Community center and has 3 indoor gym courts that are open twice per week on Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. as of the writing of this article.
If you are in the east valley and are looking for a place to play, the Pecos Park Pickleball courts would be high on my list for no other reason than with 16 courts available, the wait times can be shorter or non-existent compared to Arrowhead Park or the Tempe pickleball courts.
