I recently had the chance to visit the new Dink & Dine Picklepark in Mesa for a Saturday night group outing. As the East Valley’s pickleball scene continues to expand, this facility stands out by offering a high-end “eatertainment” experience that caters to both serious players and social groups.
Because we visited during a peak weekend, and in the middle of the March Madness tournament season, we were glad we reserved our courts in advance. If you’re planning a visit to the Dink & Dine Mesa location, it is recommended to reserve a pickleball court in advance so you have a reservation waiting for you upon your arrival.
There are court rental fees to play on the Dink & Dine pickleball courts and those fees depend on the day and time you choose to play. The process for reserving a court via their website was simple and straightforward and the process to check in when we arrived was easy and quick.
The Court Experience
We spent our first hour on courts 7 and 8. My initial impression upon walking around and checking the place out was the facility is very well thought out, large, and quite impressive.
The courts are professional-grade, dedicated pickleball courts with cushioned hardcourt surfaces and permanent nets.
The layout is split into two distinct areas:
- The Indoor Pavilion: Featuring 10 fully air-conditioned courts, this is where we spent our time. It’s an ideal environment for the Arizona summer, offering a true climate-controlled escape.
- The Courtyard: There are 3 additional covered outdoor courts that provide a great “open air” feel while still offering protection from the sun.
Overall, the design is thoughtful, providing a year-round solution for players who want to avoid the elements without sacrificing the quality of play.

💡 Pro-Tip: If you’re hosting a group where some guests are still learning the game, pickleball rules and scoring can sometimes be challenging for newcomers. For just this reason, I designed a digital rules & scoring cheat sheet I named “Pickleball Rules and Scoring Cheat Sheets – Quick Reference”. It’s a great way for new players to learn the rules in a quick-reference, at-a-glance format.
Dining at Paddleheads
After our session, we transitioned to the on-site restaurant, Paddleheads Bar & Eatery. Since it was an Elite 8 March Madness game night, there was interest in the pickleball games on the courts and the basketball game on the TV’s. We sat in the covered courtyard area, which features a large screen that make it an excellent spot for sports fans to watch a big game.
The venue offers a great variety of seating and social options:
- The Restaurant & Bar: Perfect for a more traditional sit-down dinner.
- The Courtyard & Games area: a wide-open area featuring Adirondack lounge chairs and yard games like cornhole.
The dining area either indoor or outdoor has a relaxed vibe that works well for both a date-night dinner or a casual night out with friends.
