Carlos Alcaraz Completes the Career Grand Slam

Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday became the youngest player to complete the career Grand Slam, defeating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open Men’s Singles final.

The Spaniard had never advanced past the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, making it the only Grand Slam title missing from his prolific tennis resume.  Alcaraz captured his first major at the 2022 US Open, and has since won each of the other majors twice – Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

With the victory, Alcaraz now owns seven major titles.  He becomes the youngest player in the Open era to reach that milestone, surpassing Bjorn Borg, who won his seventh Grand Slam title at Roland Garros in 1979, just days after his 23rd birthday.

Alcaraz now joins an elite group with his Australian Open triumph.  Only six male players have achieved the Career Grand Slam feat in the Open Era, and only nine male players total have accomplished the goal.

Open Era Career Grand Slam winners and the year they achieved the feat include Carlos Alcaraz (2026), Novak Djokovic (2016), Rafael Nadal (2010), Roger Federer (2009), Andre Agassi (1999), and Rod Laver (1969).

Players to achieve the feat prior to the Open Era include Fred Perry (1935), Don Budge (1938), and Roy Emerson (1964).

At just 22 years old, Carlos Alcaraz has already secured his place among the greatest champions in tennis history.
